What’s the Best Weapon in Monster Hunter Wilds?

We consider there to be three weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds, and we’re going to take a closer look at these right now.

Bow

The Bow is a fantastic weapon in all Monster Hunter Games for one primary reason: you can fight from a much further distance than any other weapon.

Not only that, but it’s an exceptionally easy weapon to use. The new Tracer Arrow, for example, lets you basically fire homing missiles at any specific monster body part.

Dragon Piercer makes a return from previous games, allowing you to perform an incredibly powerful move against immobilised monsters, but there’s now an alternative: Spread Shot.

This is basically a shotgun-like attack that will hit the monster with multiple arrows. It’s very effective when used from close range.

Great Sword

The Great Sword is the hardest hitting weapon in the game, so if that’s your priority, go ahead and pick it. You can break monster parts easily and pull off combos that devastate your opponents.

New this time around is the ‘Power Clash’ mechanic, which lets you effectively counter an attack from an enemy. Block their attack and you can briefly stun them, allowing you to perform a mighty charged slash.

Speaking of which, you can now aim your charged slashes mid attack, which is new for Monster Hunter Wilds, and helps mitigate an issue with this weapon in previous entries.

Long Sword

The Long Sword is a great alternative to the Great Sword for those amongst you that fancy trading a bit of damage for speed.

Those used to using this weapon in previous Monster Hunters will enjoy the easier Spirit Charges, as well as the Spirit Roundslash, which makes it easier to charge.

There’s also a new move, the Spirit Release Slash, which you can perform after pulling off a Spirit Helm Breaker. That moves got a bit of an upgrade too as you can cancel out of it in mid-air if the monster moves.
