Xenoblade Chronicles X features a variety of different classes that you can unlock and equip as you progress throughout the game. These vary in power, and help you specialise in a particular area, like melee, defence, or support.

Xenoblade Chronicles X Classes Tier List

Now, let’s crack straight on with the Xenoblade Chronicles X classes tier list.

S Tier

We recommend the Drifter as the best endgame class in Xenoblade Chronicles X. While it’s not particularly great during the early phases of the game, its ability to equip any weapon that you’ve unlocked makes it a powerhouse during the endgame. You also gain a ton of skill slots.

ClassWhy
Drifter+ Can equip any weapon
+ Loads of skill slots
+ Complete flexibility

A Tier

A tier classes are great during the middle and later phases of the game. They’re incredibly powerful, and don’t have any severe issues with survivability. They’re also decent endgame options if you don’t want to use the Drifter.

ClassWhy
Full Metal Jaguar+ Damage scales as your HP drops
+ Can life steal
Bastion Warrior+ Excellent tank
+ Very strong defence
+ Reflects attacks
+ Self heals
Mastermind+ Excellent support class
+ Buffs and debuffs

B Tier

These classes are still powerful, but a little too circumstantial to recommend in all instances. They may require a status effect to deal increased damage, or be a bit of a one trick pony.

ClassWhy
Astral Crusader+ Long ranged weapon
+ Can wreak havoc against enemies suffering from ‘Shocked’
Duelist+ Lots of AoE abilities
Galactic Knight+ Can heal
+ Removes debuffs

C Tier

Characters in this tier are fine during the early game, but start to become less effective later on. Their damage may not be on par with B-S, or they are just less effective at their specific role.

ClassWhy
Blast Fencer+ Can DPS or tank
+ Lots of elemental attacks
– Jack-of-all trades, master of none
Partisan Eagle+ Ranged attacks
+ Buffs/debuffs
Psycorruptor+ CC options
+ Turn enemies into allies
+ Sleep effect
Samurai Gunner+ Melee DPS
+ Tanky
Shield Trooper+ Resistant to a variety of enemy types
+ Topples and DPS increase against toppled enemies
Winged Viper+ Decent DPS
+ Can self heal

D Tier

These are the worst classes in the game, and aren’t worth using unless you have no other option.

ClassWhy
Commando+ Lots of damage buffs
Enforcer+ Ranged attacks
+ Stat boosts
Striker+ Damage boosting effects
+ Can trade DPS for tankiness
