Anime Vanguards just dropped its massive 4.0 update, introducing a wealth of new features. That includes 12 new units, a brand new Rifts game mode, and new stages for Story Mode and Legend.

While it’s a little late to the party, there’s even space for a Valentine’s event. You have to beat the Love Portal to earn Chocolate Hearts, which you can exchange for items in the Love Shop. That’s a whole lot of love.

Rounding out the update, we’ve got a brand new Battle Pass, revamped cosmetics system, and a whole host of changes and quality of life fixes. We’re going to detail the lot of it in this article, so let’s get stuck in.

Beat Rifts and you can earn Rift Shards, a new currency that you can spend in the Rift Shop on the following items:

  • Vowstones
  • Gon (familiar)
  • Pachiru (familiar)
  • Trait Rerolls
  • Stat Chips

Spirit Society Story Mode Stage

The story continues in the Spirit Society stage. This includes six new acts to battle through in normal or nightmare difficulty.

According to the developer, two items are hidden in the stage that you need to evolve a select character.

Kuinshi Palace Legend Stage

Similarly, Legend mode gets a brand new stage, Kuinshi Palace. If you manage to beat this on Nightmare Difficulty, you unlock new Kuinshi Raid Legend stages too.

Plus, you have a chance of getting Yomomata if you beat the Final Act.

Valentine’s Event: Love Portal and Love Shop

Anime Vanguard has dropped a Valentine’s Event a whopping 10 days after the event. It’s called the Love Portal, a duo mode challenge that provides you with Chocolate Hearts when you beat it, alongside the potential to gain Gazelle’s evolution item.

What do you do with those Chocolate Hearts? You spend them in the Love Shop, of course! It’s located in the plaza near the Worldlines and Tournaments. Here you can purchase:

  • Mythic Gazelle
  • Eizen Chair Mount
  • Trait Rerolls
  • Gold
  • Stat Chips
  • Super Stat Chips

Neon and Chrome Battle Pass

There’s a new Battle Pass! That means Dodara and Sosora are no longer available, but Neon and Chrome are. So there you go.

Cosmetics Revamp

Cosmetics are now no longer a one size fits all. You can now turn on and off individual aspects of a cosmetic item, including the model, effects, or animation.
