Fishing just got added in the Lightning Update (Update 27) and honestly, it’s a fun little side activity if you need a break from grinding mobs all day. It works kind of like fishing in games like Fisch, except you don’t magically start with a rod or an infinite supply of bait. You’ve got to unlock everything first. Here’s how fishing works in Blox Fruits and why you might actually want to give it a shot.

How to Get the Fishing Rod in Blox Fruits

You can’t fish without a rod, so that’s step one. The good news is, you don’t have to do a crazy questline to unlock it. The rod can be found at three different spots depending on which sea you’re in:

  • Frozen Village (First Sea): Go down to the docks, look around, and you’ll spot the fisherman NPC.
  • Kingdom of Rose (Second Sea): Head to docks 2 and check near the water. If you’re not in the Second Sea yet, you’ll need to hit level 700, talk to the Military Detective at Prison, beat the Ice Admiral in Frozen Village, then report back. After that, the captain in Middle Town will ferry you across.
  • Port Town (Third Sea): By the docks again. To reach Third Sea, you’ve got to be level 1500, finish the Colosseum Quest, beat Don Swan, and help King Red Head defeat rip_indra. Yeah, it’s a process. Using XP codes makes that grind a lot less painful.

Once you’re at one of those spots, here’s what you do:

  1. Go to the pier or dock.
  2. Find the fisherman NPC.
  3. Talk to him and you’ll unlock your Fishing Rod. Easy.

How Fishing Works in Blox Fruits

The fishing itself is actually simple once you get the hang of the minigame. Equip your rod, go to the sea, and click to cast. After a second, you’ll see a hook indicator (a red exclamation mark inside a circle). Tap it fast or you’ll miss the catch.

That’s when the fishing UI pops up. You’ll see two bars:

  • The lower bar shows how close you are to reeling in the fish. If it goes red, you lose it.
  • The upper bar is the tricky one. There’s a fish icon sliding side to side, and you control a floating box. Keep the fish inside the box until the lower bar fills, and boom, you caught it.

And it’s not always fish you’re pulling up either. Sometimes you’ll snag:

  • Rare Fruits (yeah, actual devil fruits)
  • Treasure Chests
  • Crafting Recipes
  • Or… a useless boot. Classic fishing luck.

When you first unlock the rod, you’ll get a little free bait, but it runs out fast. To buy more, just talk to the fisherman again. Open the shop from his dialogue, pick basic bait, and click craft. It costs some Beli, and you’ll get 10x bait per craft. Stock up before you start a fishing session because running out mid-fishing is annoying.

Fishing Mastery and Passives

Fishing isn’t just about catching stuff. You also level up your fishing mastery over time. The more you fish, the more passive boosts you unlock. Here’s what you can get:

  • Bait: Increases bait effectiveness. Just keep crafting more bait.
  • Casting: Reduces the bite delay. Basically makes fish bite faster. Land perfect casts to level this up.
  • Control: Widens the green bar in the minigame so it’s easier to keep the fish icon inside. Level this by consistently holding the fish in the zone.

The more you fish, the smoother the whole process gets, so it’s worth building these up if you actually want to farm rewards.
