The Shell Rod is a Rare fishing rod introduced in Update 27.1 of Blox Fruits. It’s an upgrade over basic rods like the Fishing Rod, Shark Rod, or Gold Rod, offering faster fishing times and better mastery gains, which makes it ideal for progressing in the fishing system. It’s exclusive to the Third Sea and requires completing quests to unlock its crafting recipe. Below is a step-by-step guide to obtaining Shell Rod in Blox Fruits.
Blox Fruits Shell Rod Guide
Step 1: Unlock the Third Sea
You must be in the Third Sea to start this process. If you’re still in the First or Second Sea, complete the main quests and defeat the required bosses to gain access (usually at level 1,500+). The Shell Rod cannot be obtained in earlier seas.
Step 2: Find the Angler NPC
Travel to Hydra Island (also called Hydra Town) in the Third Sea. Look near the docks or town area for the Angler NPC, who appears as a fisherman-like character.
Step 3: Complete 40 Angler Quests
Talk to the Angler to start his quests, known as “Angler’s Trust Quests.” You need to finish 40 in total. These quests usually involve catching certain types of fish, bringing materials back to the Angler, or traveling to more dangerous fishing spots.
Tips for faster progress:
- Upgrade to a Shark Rod or Gold Rod first if you can.
- Fish with other players nearby for a small luck boost (up to 15%).
- Use good bait like Sturdy Bait for rarer catches.
Completing quests also gives fragments, money, and experience, so it’s worth doing even beyond unlocking the rod.
Step 4: Collect Crafting Materials
After finishing all 40 quests, the Angler will unlock the Shell Rod recipe. To craft it, you need:
- 2 Terrorshark Teeth: Dropped by the Terrorshark sea beast, which spawns at Danger Levels 2–6.
- 2,000 Fish Fillets: Gathered by fishing and gutting common fish like Sea Cat or Peardrake.
- 8 Iron Ingots: Crafted from Scrap Metal or found in chests/barrels.
- 12 Mutant Essences: Rare drops from mutant enemies, bosses, or fishing mythical fish.
Step 5: Craft the Shell Rod
Return to the Angler with all materials and choose the Shell Rod crafting option. Once crafted, it’s added to your inventory and can be enchanted later for even better stats.
