If you’ve ever tried stepping into the lava areas in Blox Fruits, you already know it’s brutal. You touch the lava for half a second and your health bar just vanishes. The Lava Potion is basically the only way to make those areas bearable, so let me explain how to actually get it in Blox Fruits.

How To Unlock Lava Potion Recipe in Blox Fruits

This part can be frustrating. The Lava Potion recipe isn’t handed to you. You have to fish for it, and the drop comes from these things called Notes in a Bottle. Every time I fish, I pray it’s not just another random item. Sometimes it is. A lot of times it is.

Here’s the thing, though. If you’re still in the First Sea, the odds are lower. Once you make it to the Second or Third Sea, your chances get better. I personally had better luck in the Third Sea, but that might just be RNG messing with me. Either way, you’ll probably spend some time fishing before it drops, so patience is your best friend here.

Lava Potion Ingredients

When you finally unlock the recipe, the actual ingredients are pretty easy:

  • Three Common Fish
  • Some Wooden Planks

The Common Fish are everywhere. Just fish with a rod and bait (grab those from the Fisherman NPC in Port Town if you haven’t already). Honestly, don’t sell your Common Fish even if you feel like you’re drowning in them, because later you’ll realize you need a bunch for crafting.

Wooden Planks are even simpler. Smash some trees and you’ll have more than enough. You can stack 99 in your inventory, which is plenty.

How To Craft Lava Potion

You don’t just click a button and get the potion. You actually have to build a campfire first. Grab some Wooden Planks, open your inventory, hit “Build,” and drop a fire on the ground. Once it’s set, interact with it and the crafting menu pops up. If you’ve got the Lava Potion recipe unlocked, it’ll show up. Toss in your three Common Fish and there you go, first Lava Potion crafted.

The first time I did it, I thought it was kind of funny that I was cooking a potion out of fish on a campfire, but it works.

How To Use Lava Potion in Blox Fruits

So the Lava Potion gives you about two minutes of lava immunity. Two minutes doesn’t sound like a lot, but it’s enough to do what you need. I’ve used it while exploring the Hot side of Hot and Cold, and also during the Volcano Event on Prehistoric Island. Without it, those places are basically death traps.

There’s also a quest where you need to walk on lava for five minutes to unlock Pain Fruit hidden abilities. Obviously two minutes isn’t enough, so you’ll need to chug a few of these potions back-to-back. Stockpile them before you attempt that.

One heads up though. Sometimes the potion is buggy. You drink it and still take lava damage. It doesn’t happen every time, but when it does, it’s annoying. Hopefully the devs fix it in a future patch.
