It’s no secret that items and weapons play a crucial role in Dead Rails as they help you to survive against zombies and various other enemies. Therefore, it becomes important for you to learn about every item and weapon in the game to travel long distances without dying. Taking that into account, we’ve provided a detailed breakdown of Dead Rails items and weapons for your convenience.

All Items and Weapons in Dead Rails

Melee Weapon

Simple. Gets the job done. Good for self defense but still risky to use. Maybe only use it against zombies.

  • Damage – 20
  • Cooldown – 1 Second(?)
  • Cost – Free, you spawn with this

Note; Every hit has a chance to “stun” an enemy. Use that to either land another hit or gain distance. Do note that “stunned” enemies can still attack you if you’re within range.

Revolver

  • Damage – ? / 50
  • Reload Time –
  • Magazine Size – Six Bullets
  • Cost – $35, Can also be found in buildings.
  • Cost for Ammo – $15 for 24 bullets

Note; A good useful item for zombies. Land your headshots and you should be fine. Don’t expect this to be too accurate in farther ranges, though.

Mauser C96

A reliable pistol that’s pretty much a better revolver. It’s more practical to use when in Infested Towns or trying to kill vampires and zombies.

  • Damage – ? / 50
  • Reload Time –
  • Magazine Size – Six Bullets
  • Cost – $35, Can also be found in buildings.
  • Cost for Ammo – $15 for 24 bullets

Note; This is a game pass weapon. You’re able to find it just in houses or buildings but you can pay 149 similarly to the Sawed-Off shotgun to start with this in your run.

Sawed Off Shotgun

Not that bad of a shotgun, though it’s more better suited for zombies. Not recommended for werewolf hunting.

  • Damage –
  • Reload Time –
  • Magazine Size – Two Bullets
  • Cost – Can be found in Buildings or buy a game pass to spawn with it
  • Cost for Ammo – $15 for 24 bullets

Note; If you buy the game pass for the sawed-off shotgun it is permanent and it can help a bit early-game.

Rifle

Reliable, accurate, and personally my favorite weapon. Rifles are a go-to choice if you want to pretend to be a sniper.

  • Damage – 75 / 95
  • Reload Time –
  • Magazine Size – Six Bullets
  • Cost – $50, Can also be found in buildings.
  • Cost for Ammo – $25 for 24 bullets

Note; The Rifle has 100% accuracy, meaning the bullet will never sway. Good for long-range sniping in case you don’t want to deal with conflict.

Maxim Machine Gun

A somewhat reliable machine gun that can be attached to your train for usage. Mostly used for hordes and needs ammo boxes to supply it.

  • Damage – ? / 50
  • Reload Time – N/A
  • Magazine Size – 100 Bullets
  • Cost – $100, Can also be found in buildings.
  • Cost for Ammo – $12 for 100 bullets

Note; A useful tool if you want to clear out Infested Towns. Not exactly the first weapon pick, but it’s still good regardless.
