With only 72 hours left in the Dune Awakening’s official launch, it’s been announced that private servers will be available from day one. At first, these servers were meant to come out after launch, but they are being released early due to quicker development.
Still, this game doesn’t follow the usual formula for survival games. Private servers in Dune: Awakening offer something different and there are more details than you might expect. With that said, here’s everything you need to know about Dune Awakening private servers.
What Are Private Servers in Dune Awakening?

Private servers basically allow you to have a personal space in the game.
You rent a space and have your own Hagga Basin, where you build your base, collect resources and face or dodge battles.
However, here’s the surprise: there are other beings in the universe.
Your private server belongs to a larger “World” that has other private servers.
Imagine it as a neighborhood where every person has their own house, but you all visit the same parks and streets together.
The places where everyone from the same World meets are called social hubs and the Deep Desert, where they can interact, trade or battle.
How To Set Up a Private Server in Dune Awakening
To set up a server, you have to choose one of the official hosting partners the game provides. At this moment, these are the areas we are focusing on:
- Gportal
- Nitrado
- xRealm
You select a provider, decide on your World and set up a few options. It’s quite simple.
What’s the Player Limit?
Every private server can host 40 or more players, so it’s perfect for small groups or friends.
All of the World’s private servers can have several hundred people playing at once. Even though your server is comfortable, the rest of the World is still wide and full of activity.
What about the way the game is played? The main goal is to survive, but there’s an MMO twist to it.
You can look beyond your own experiences. You belong to a larger community, even when you’re playing in a small group.
How To Customize
Yes, but there are some boundaries. Here are the things you can adjust:
- If you want everyone fighting each other, select the PvP option. Get rid of safe zones so that PvP can take place anywhere in your basin. You can also opt for a peaceful game if that’s what you prefer.
- If you want your server to be more relaxed, you can turn off the tax system.
- Are you ready for a tough fight? Don’t remove them. Want to relax? Switch them off.
- Give your server a name and secure it with a password for extra protection.
- Can you get a friend’s server password? You can claim land on their server if you are both in the same World.
What Can’t You Do?
There are some obstacles that you’ll encounter:
- You can’t manage the game from the backend, so you can’t spawn items or remove players.
- You can’t modify XP or the rate at which your equipment breaks.
- You Can’t Change the Social Hubs or the Deep Desert: These areas are reserved and cannot be changed. The game’s server team is responsible for those tasks.
- Private servers are not connected to the official servers. Characters are not meant to be used in both games.
Basically, there are some useful controls, but you won’t have god-like abilities.
