You won’t belive but it’s officially here. Bethesda has finally released The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered and it has surprisingly gone live across all the platforms. You name it. The game is available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, and we haven’t talked about the best part. It is included with Xbox Game Pass on day one.
Built with Unreal Engine 5, Oblivion Remastered breathes new life into the 2006 classic with a retouching of supreme visual quality, faithful to the sense of the game. Bethesda has kept the legendary voice acting and dialogue system that made the game’s offbeat personality, which combines nostalgia with contemporary fidelity.
The remaster is packaged with the complete package. Oblivion’s base game, both major expansions (Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine), and all additional DLC that was released alongside it during its original run. Priced at $49.99 for non-Game Pass players, the release brings a full return to Cyrodiil.
The release news confirms years of rumors. The project was first revealed in 2023 as part of Microsoft court documents and kept on being talked about among fans and insiders. Rumors had been circulating for a while that a shadow drop was coming, and Bethesda indeed delivered exactly that, launching the game with no buildup beyond the hype.
Those looking to dive in will need to be willing to download a large file. Launch leaks hinted at a larger file size and early playtesters testify to the fact that they required extra storage space for the remaster’s high-res assets and levels.
For a lot of enthusiasts, this represents the culmination of a long-standing wish to see Oblivion made available to contemporary audiences. Once only running on aging hardware, remaster brings one of Bethesda’s fond titles back to life for this new generation.
