Fortnite is growing up its reputation beyond just a battle royale game because it’s officially a content platform now. We’re not joking as Epic Games has confirmed that the new Star Wars series, Tales of the Empire, will drop inside Fortnite two days before it lands on Disney+.
The in-game screening is one of several Star Wars-themed events that will be part of a larger Star Wars-themed season that launches May 2 with Chapter 6 Season 3.
At 10 AM ET on May 2, players can enter a custom Fortnite Creative island (code: 2124-6713-8076) designed just for the early release.
The island features themed content and a massive screen where players can view the first two episodes of Tales of the Empire which is 48 hours ahead of its May 4 premiere on Disney+.
To lure players and fans, Epic Games is also holding a rewards event along with that, meaning watching both episodes will get you a free Asajj Ventress Loading Screen, and linking up your Epic Games and MyDisney accounts will earn you the First Order Stormtrooper Outfit.
The skin will come in standard and LEGO variants.
This is the first time ever that a TV series will premiere within a video game, cementing Fortnite’s transition into a full-fledged entertainment destination. Alright, we’re joking now. Fortnite is not becoming Netflix.
The main event of Fortnite’s annual Star Wars celebration also includes new Star Wars-themed cosmetics and the inclusion of Darth Jar Jar which is a meme-sparked version of the infamous Gungan Sith theory in the game is definitely an interesting bit to see.
The island can be found by looking up the code: 2124-6713-8076 in the Fortnite search bar. As we mentioned earlier, while the island is live, you also have the chance to get a free First-Order Stormtrooper skin by linking your Epic and MyDisney accounts, which is worth doing as there will be more Disney crossovers like this in Fortnite in the coming years.
And if that wasn’t enough, then after watching both episodes, you’ll also receive a second free gift within 72 hours: a loading screen featuring Asajj Ventress, a central character in the show.
