We all know there are tons of cool pets in Grow a Garden, but some of the coolest pets have been outright banned or even erased from the game because of how overpowered they were.
So without further ado, let’s break down the three pets that have been secretly banned from Grow a Garden.
3 Pets That Vanished from Grow a Garden Without Explanation
1. The Firefly

The Firefly was first revealed on May 17th during the Blood Moon update. In a video, a player named Toasty gifted a Firefly to Vexo, revealing its unique ability to apply the Shock Mutation every 79 seconds. Vexo even claimed:
“It might be the best pet in the game.”
He went as far as saying it was better than a Dragonfly. But only a minute into the video, it abruptly ended.
Was the Firefly ever real?
Right now, it’s classified as unreleased and supposedly only obtainable on a secret test server.
But what if we told you… the Firefly is technically in Grow a Garden right now?
With the latest update introducing pet mutations, any level 50+ pet has a chance to roll one of 12 mutations, including:
- Wendy
- Golden
- Mega
- Super Tiny (our personal favorite)
- Shock Mutation (very rare – only a 3.22% chance)
If we apply Shock to any flying pet, it basically becomes a Firefly.
However, it’s not exactly the same. The Firefly could use its shock ability independently, while the Shock mutation depends on a thunderstorm. In contrast, using a lightning rod allows players to select exactly which plants get shocked.
2. The Jandel Monkey

Next one is the secret Jandel Monkey. This pet was announced during the Summer Harvest update, when Jandel himself said:
“We should do a giveaway, one pet given to one random player. Imagine how crazy rare that would be.”
The Jandel Monkey was supposed to be a one-of-one pet. Only one player out of millions would own it.
But here’s where the problem starts.
Owning a pet that rare puts a huge target on your back from scammers, hackers, and even other players. Remember the 1 billionth Roblox user who got hacked and lost their account forever? Yeah. Owning something that rare can be dangerous.
Even worse, there’s no trace of the Jandel Monkey anymore. The wiki page that once described it has been completely removed.
Some say Jandel covered it up to protect players. But if that’s true, then why are there users on Discord claiming they’re trading the Jandel Monkey? Are they scammers? Or does someone really own it?
There’s now a new NPC named Barry, and he’s wearing a very specific hat. That hat belongs to Builderman, the CEO of Roblox. Grow a Garden often adds hidden details to honor Roblox.
Cosmetics are confirmed to be coming soon, so imagine this:
- Jandel’s Crown on the Monkey = 0.1% chance to get a Super Seed
- DJ Jai’s Hat on the Owl = +10% pet XP
- Sam Dog = digs up a legendary seed every 3 minutes
All of these could become admin pets, and Jandel Monkey might just make a comeback through cosmetics.
3. The Red Dragon

Finally, we have the Red Dragon, a 100% real pet that was leaked by an admin named Remorse on April 30th. In a screenshot, you can clearly see:
- Name: Red Dragon
- Pet Level: 16
On May 18th, just a day after the Firefly leak, the Red Dragon showed up in a video owned by a player named Dave’s Mane.
Turns out there’s only one user with that name, and they’ve only played Grow a Garden.
We found multiple players casually flaunting Red Dragons in their gardens. Holding it by the tail. Flexing next to a 30,000-level Dragonfly.
Something felt off.
None of them are admins.
That’s when we noticed, the Red Dragon was actually just a watering can with a custom skin. The real Red Dragon pet never made it to players.
Instead, the Red Dragon was quietly changed into the Cooked Owl, which also applies the Burnt Mutation.
So, Red Dragon = Cooked Owl.
Not sure why they made that change. But the Cooked Owl did bring us the Fried Chicken weather event and a new cosmetic that references the death of the Red Dragon.
