How To Get Chicken Zombie (Chicken Jockey) in Grow a Garden
Let’s start with the star of the update: the Chicken Zombie. Also referred to as the Chicken Jockey, this little guy is probably the first thing you’ll unlock when the update goes live. Players will receive it for free, which is a nice touch from the developers.
Here’s what it does:
- Every 29 minutes, there is a 20.40% chance that a nearby fruit becomes zombified.
- Increases egg hatch speed by 10.20%.
Not only is this pet thematically perfect, it also adds a small automation boost for those hatching eggs. Just beware: if you’re accepting chicken jockeys from others, things can get out of hand quickly.
New Inventory System
The revamped inventory system is a quality-of-life upgrade that makes a huge difference. The UI now separates items into clear categories like All Items, Seeds, Roots, Gears, and Pets. It’s a much cleaner layout and helps you find what you need faster.
Even better, if you search for something (like “Night Staff”) and then close your inventory, it remembers your search when you reopen it. No more typing the same thing over and over again when placing multiple tools or decorations.
Blood Moon Crops and Shop
Two new crops are exclusive to the Blood Moon event: the Moon Melon and Blood Banana. These can be purchased only during the Blood Moon, which seems to occur every three hours. During this event, you’ll also find bloodlit fruits growing across your farm.
The Blood Moon shop includes:
- Moon Melon and Blood Banana seeds
- Mysterious Crates (note: you cannot open these until the upcoming cosmetic update)
- Individual pets (like the Blood Kiwi, Blood Hedgehog, and Blood Owl)
- Night Egg and Seed Pack (these may change, so stay tuned)
Pay extra attention to the Mysterious Crates. Once placed, they cannot be moved or removed. Since they won’t open until the cosmetic update goes live next week, it’s probably best to hold off on using them.
New Gears: The Star Collar
Among the new gear is the Star Collar, which works similarly to a lightning rod. When a Starfall event occurs, the Star Collar increases the chance of a star landing on nearby crops. This is essential for unlocking the Celestial mutation, a glowing orange effect like the one seen on cacao plants.
If you’re farming during a Starfall, placing these around high-value crops is definitely the move.
New Pets and Their Passives
Several new pets are being introduced through both the Blood Moon shop and Night Egg. Let’s break them down by where you can get them and what their passives do.
From the Blood Moon Shop:
- Blood Kiwi: Price unknown (likely 20 to 60 million cash)
- Blood Hedgehog: Boosts prickly fruit size by 2.02x and variant chance by 1.16x
- Blood Owl: Grants all active pets 0.53 XP per second
From the Night Egg:
- Red Giant Ant: 5.13% chance to duplicate crops, especially fruit
- Red Fox: Every 10 minutes, steals a random seed from another player’s crop
- Brown Mouse: Every 8 minutes, grants bonus XP and increases player jump height by 10.12%
- Squirrel: 2.53% chance to not consume seeds when planting
These new pets, especially the Red Fox and Squirrel, offer powerful passive boosts that can really change up how you manage your garden. The Red Fox, in particular, is a massive upgrade from the older raccoon pets.
New Rarity: Prismatic Seeds
There’s a new seed tier in the game called Prismatic, introduced with the Beantock seed. These are currently available for 715 Robux and can be planted like any other crop. They seem extremely rare and valuable, with the base Beantock selling for around 99,000 even without special conditions.
Sprinklers are more important than ever here, so take advantage of the improved inventory search to deploy them faster and more efficiently.
Celestial Mutation and Events
The Celestial mutation can be triggered during a Starfall event, and it appears as an orange glow on affected crops. Though rare, this mutation adds a nice visual effect and likely increases crop value significantly.
As for the Blood Moon, while the visual changes are dramatic (sky turns red, shop rises from the ground), the real action is in what you can buy during that limited-time window.
