The Cooking Event may have ended in Grow a Garden, but cooking itself isn’t going anywhere. Instead of being tied to the Pig or Rat NPCs, the cooking system is now part of the main game. This is great news because cooking isn’t just a side activity anymore. It’s actually tied to crafting items you’ll need as you progress. The only catch is that the Cooking Kit doesn’t just sit around waiting for you. You have to earn it.

When I first saw that the Cooking Kit was gone, I thought I had missed my chance, but it turns out it can be unlocked pretty easily once you know what to do in Grow a Garden.

How to Unlock the Cooking Kit

The greedy pig may have left the game, but he didn’t take everything with him. His old cauldron has basically been turned into the Cooking Kit, which you’ll need if you want to cook again.

The Cooking Kit is unlocked through achievements. There are three sets you’ll need to complete:

  • Common achievements
  • Rare achievements
  • Mythical achievements

The good news is the Common ones are super straightforward. You just plant, harvest, and shovel plants in your garden. It’s simple, but it does take a little grinding. For me, it took about half an hour before I had them all knocked out. Once you finish all three tiers, just hit the “Claim Reward” button and the Cooking Kit will automatically show up in your cosmetics inventory.

Setting Up and Using the Cooking Kit

After unlocking it, head into your cosmetics inventory (that little hammer and spanner icon in the top left) and place it somewhere in your garden plot. Once it’s down, you can walk up to it and start cooking.

Here’s how it works in practice:

  1. Hold a fruit in your hand.
  2. Walk up to the kit. If the fruit is needed as an ingredient, you’ll see it pop up on the left panel.
  3. Add the fruit, then check the right side to see the cooking time and the mutation chance.
  4. When you’re ready, click the green “Cook” button.

Cooking does take time, but you can skip it instantly for 39 Robux if you don’t feel like waiting. And yes, it’s still a little buggy at the moment, but it does the job. Sadly, you don’t get to spin around in the cauldron like before. I miss that part.

Why It’s Worth Unlocking

You might be wondering, “Is the Cooking Kit really worth the grind?” Absolutely. Beyond just making fun foods like burgers and corndogs, it’s required for bigger progression items. The most important one right now is the Corndog, which you’ll need to craft the Pet Pouch. Each pouch adds one more slot to your pet inventory, letting you eventually expand from 60 to 110 slots.

If you’re into collecting pets, the Cooking Kit is basically a must-have.
