The Fried mutation is one of the most profitable mutations in Grow a Garden as it offers a solid 8x multiplier on your plant’s value. Originally introduced during the Fried Chicken event, this mutation has since been made available through several newer methods, making it easier (though still luck-based) to obtain.
If you’re looking to collect or farm the Fried mutation, here’s a breakdown of all the current ways to get it.
Ways to Get the Fried Mutation
There are currently three main ways to get the Fried mutation:
1. Fried Chicken Event (Admin-Run Event)
This was the original way when the Fried mutation was introduced. It’s not always active as it’s only the developers (admins) can start this event, usually before big updates to the game. Here’s how it works:
- Before the update, you’ll see a voting zone appear in the lobby.
- Step into the zone to vote for the Fried Chicken event. If enough players vote for it, the event goes live.
- During the event, a character called Cooked Owl rains down chicken legs in the lobby, and many of your best crops will randomly mutate into Fried versions.
My Thoughts: This method is more chaotic and luck-based, but also one of the most rewarding if your garden is already full of good plants. You’ll want to prep your best crops ahead of time.
2. Fried Mutation Pet (Via Pet Shard Fried)
A more consistent method involves getting a Fried mutation pet, which can apply the mutation over time.
- First, complete cooking quests and feed dishes to Chris P, the Pig NPC.
- If you’re lucky, you’ll receive a Pet Shard Fried from the cooking rewards. This shard lets you upgrade a pet to give it the Fried mutation ability.
- Once applied, the pet will randomly try to mutate crops in your garden with the Fried effect.
This method is automatic, but not guaranteed. Even if the pet tries to mutate a crop, it can fail. You’ll need patience or a bit of luck.
3. Mutation Spray Fried (One-Time Use Item)
Probably the most direct way to get the Fried mutation is through the Mutation Spray Fried which is another item found in cooking rewards from Chris P.
- This item works instantly: just select a crop, use the spray, and it will become Fried.
- Each spray can only be used once.
Advice: Save these sprays for your most valuable plants, like high-rarity crops or big harvests. Don’t waste it on basic stuff like carrots or tomatoes as you won’t get your full value.
