While you may have been too busy obsessing over Throne and Liberty to notice, a brand new free to play MMORPG hast just arrived. It goes by the name Haven and Hearth and it plays an awful lot like OSRS meets Stardew Valley.

Visually, it looks ripped straight out of the late 90s/early 00s but in a very good way. It’s very OG Baldur’s Gate, and what we imagine RuneScape would have looked like had it focused on sprites instead of polygons.

Haven and Hearth Looks Like Your Traditional Old School MMORPG

There’s an absolute ton of stuff to do in Haven and Hearth too. If you like traditional MMORPG stuff you can wander around, beating monsters and developing your combat abilities. When you feel tough enough, you can venture into the challenging dungeons to hoover up some loot.

But you can also live your dream fantasy MMORPG NPC life. You can cook a wide variety of dishes to sell, head down the mines to gather ore to craft weapons and armour with, or even build your very own homestead.

But It’s So Much More Than That

We did mention Stardew Valley is a bit of an inspiration. At your home, you can build your very own farm, tilling the fields and growing crops yourself. You can then sell those raw ingredients, or cook up your own dishes.

As you develop it, your homestead can grow to a humble village all the way through to a realm, managed by yourself and a band of friends. Be wary though: the bigger it becomes, the more you will attract enemies.

Haven and Hearth features enormous PvP, complete with siege machines and massive armies vying for devastation. So, make sure to build defences to protect your land from the threat of invasion.

Haven and Hearth is in Early Access Right Now

Haven and Hearth is so much more than a traditional MMORPG, and features such a wide variety of gameplay options that there’s something here to suit everyone.

If you’d like to check it out, go ahead and grab it on Steam right now. It’s in early access, so expect bugs and other issues as the developer irons out the kinks.
