While the world of esports is busy banging the Valorant drum, League of Legends is quietly continuing its world domination. As one helpful Redditor, Direktus, just pointed out, LoL Worlds 2024 now officially has more average viewers than Valorant Champions had at peak.
Some might argue that you should expect that, given League is now 15 years old, while Valorant is yet to turn five. But it there is a perceived notion that Valorant is more popular. It certainly gets talked about a heck of a lot more than its older brother in the esports scene.
FlyQuest Nearly Saw Off Gen.G in An Impressive Quarterfinals Display
Not only that, but yesterdays’ quarter finals match FlyQuest vs Gen.G received just shy of 100k less viewers than the match up between T1 and TES. That’s impressive given how dominant T1 continues to be, and it’s very welcome to see other teams starting to pick up traction.

Granted, a lot of us did tune in because it was a perfect underdog story. We all expected Gen.G to walk the floor with FlyQuest but the underdogs put up a good fight and nearly snatched it, losing 3-2 to Gen.G overall. Impressive stuff.
When Are the LoL Worlds Semifinals?
The semifinals take place this weekend, on October 26 and 27. The first match up will see WBG take on BLG on Saturday, October 26, with T1 taking on Gen.G on October 27.
That should prove a heck of a match-up, and we wouldn’t be surprised if it sets an all-new viewer record.
Date | Match | Round |
October 26 | WBG vs BLG | Semifinals |
October 27 | T1 vs Gen.G | Semifinals |
When Will the League of Legends Worlds Finals Take Place?
The final takes place on Friday, November 1 and will see two of the four semifinalists duke it out for the title. T1 will likely make it through, but we’re keen to see who will face them.
Are There Any Other LoL Esports Tournaments Taking Place by the End of 2024?
There’s just one more scheduled so far: TFT Magic n’ Mayhem Regional Qualifier. It will take place on November 1.
