Pokémon Go is about to do something incredibly exciting by introducing Gigantamax versions of Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise to Max Battles. According to Niantic itself, these are “the biggest challenges in Pokémon Go yet.”
That sounds like fighting talk to us.
When Do the Next Max Battles Arrive?
- Begins: October 26 at 10:00 local time
- Ends: October 27 at 8:00 PM local time
Gigantamax Venusauar, Charizard, and Blastoise will arrive in Pokémon Go on October 26 at 10:00 AM local time, and will stick around until October 27 at 8:00 PM. That gives you a whole weekend to battle and even catch these enormous monsters.
As ever, if you’re lucky enough, you may even encounter a Shiny variant. That would be a very rare monster to add to your collection.

What Are Max Battles?
Max Battles are a new feature within Pokémon Go that challenge groups of between 10-40 Trainers to take on the most challenging Pokémon the game has to offer. These are known as Gigantamax Pokémon, and they often take on the form of another monster.
To participate in a Max Battle, head to a Power Spot on your map with at least three friends (your group can only hold four) then battle them alongside other groups of players.
If you manage to succeed, you get the chance to catch the Gigantamax Pokémon – and possibly even a Shiny variant.
