Niantic is making it so much easier to join Pokémon Go raids with your friends. In fact, you can now do it from your friends list itself.

You need to be at least ‘Great Friends’ level to do so though. Match that criteria, and if you or a friend are already in a raid lobby, you can join each other without an invitation.

We’re going to detail the entire system and how it works now so you can get cracking on with raids over the festive period.

How to Join Friends in a Pokémon Go Raid

Before we provide you with the steps, you need to ensure that you are at least ‘Great Friends’ level with the trainer you want to raid with. If you’re any lower than that, this won’t work.

Here are the steps for joining a raid:

  • Tap on your ‘Trainer Profile’
  • Then ‘Friends’
  • Tap on your friend
  • If they’re in a raid lobby, hit ‘Battle’ to join the raid

If it doesn’t work, then it could be due to one of the following reasons:

  • You have used you your raid allowances for the day (that’s usually five)
  • The raid lobby is already full
  • You’re not ‘Great Friends’ level with your friend

Can I Block Friends From Joining My Raids?

You can! The steps are simple:

  • Tap on ‘Settings’
  • Disable the option to ‘Share Raid Attendance with Friends’
