At The Game Awards 2024, developer 1047 Games graced us with a brand new trailer for Splitgate 2. It showcases what to expect from the sequel, which features a lot more colour than before, alongside wide open maps.

If you’ve played the original then you will probably spot a lot of difference this time around. The portal-based chaos looks a heck of a lot more intense this time around, with players flinging themselves around the map with wild abandon.

We appreciate the new pastel colour palette too. In a genre swamped with browns and grays, it’s nice to see a developer embracing colour.

A Whole Ne World… of Weapons

The weapons, though, look absolutely fantastic, We see shotguns tat can kill at range, fast-firing SMGs, and pistols, which you can seemingly dual-wield with a primary weapon.

The sniper rifle looks like it will come in handy at all ranges. Enemy at a distance? Pop the scopes. Closer range? Skip that and just try and hit them. It’s nice to have the option.

The rocket launcher, though, looks truly glorious. It’s suitably explose and looks incredibly satisfying to use in action. We’re also fans of the laser rifle, which you have to charge between burst of shots.

There’s more than just an air of Unreal Tournament about it overall. Watching the trailer reminded us of our misspent youths.

A Flair For Dramatics

What we arguably liked most about the trailer, though, is how much character Splitgate 2 features over its predecessor.

While reloading, your character will spin the magazine or punch it in with their fist, depending on the weapon.

The ability to pull out your pistol without switching out your primary weapon not only looks flashy, but will provide helpful in a ton of circumstances.

All in all, Splitgate 2 looks set to stand out from the crowd when it launches on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC in 2025. Check out the trailer above.
