To celebrate Lunar Festival 2025, TFT is rolling back the clock by five whole years. Well, in gameplay terms at least, as the Fates: Festival of Beasts mid set is making a very welcome return.

Given the length of time, as well as the fact a bunch of new players have joined the fun since then, Riot has dropped a bit of a refresher course on how this set works. So we thought we’d give you the short version to help you get up to speed.

New Traits and Updates

Riot Games is introducing all new traits for the set that will give you a powerful advantage in battle. Here’s a breakdown:

PrismaticTrait
CultistSummon Galio
WarlordSummon a wall of soldiers
MagicBoost your AP and cast much more frequently
FortuneDrops a ton of loot

Set Mechanic: Chosen

Basically, every fourth shop will provide you with a ‘Chosen’ champion, who is always at two star level and has a +1 buff to one of their traits.

You can only have one Chosen champion at a time, so if you currently have one but want another that just appeared, you need to swap it out.

Oh, and if you pass on a Chosen champion but then they appear again, they won’t have the +1 bonus to their trait. So, you really need to be quite decisive about which one you want.

The Arrival of Augments

Augments weren’t a thing when the Festival of Beasts last appeared in the game, so Riot Games has introduced a bunch of new ones.
