Throne and Liberty is at it again, dropping the sizeable update 1.3 that introduces a bunch of new features, tweaks, and bug fixes to the explosively popular new MMORPG.

Chief among these additions is a new matchmaking option that allows you to fill a slot in a random dungeon, rather than a specific dungeon. That should help improve queue times, as well as help you vary up your activities.

Groups should now match better with those around a similar power progression as well. Oh, and you now get a 10% HP and DMG boost when running a dungeon via matchmaking, up from 5%. Matchmaking should prove a much better experience moving forward.

Throne and Liberty Update 1.3 Patch Notes

Looking at the full patch notes, there are a ton of tweaks and additions in this update. Here’s a list of things that NCSoft is tweaking, then we’ll break down the specific changes below:

  • Sever transfers
  • Dynamic events
  • Guilds
  • Quests
  • Crafting
  • Fishing
  • Customisation
  • Dungeons (which we covered above)
  • Localisation
  • UI
  • Controls
  • PC-specific fixes

Server Transfers Have a Longer Cooldown

Let’s get some of the bad news out of that way first: once you transfer servers, you now have to wait 30 days before you can change again. You also can’t do it for free anymore, as the server transfer free ticket promotion is over.

Deleting a character now takes 24 hours from initiation. We haven’t deleted a character yet, so can’t speak to how long that was before.

Dynamic Events, Guilds, and Quests

There’s a simple change to Dynamic Events: the rewards now scale based on your effort. It’s only fair that you get more rewards for handing in over 400 wolf tails than the player who joined late and only dropped 30. No, we’re not talking about anyone in particular here.

Over in the land of guilds, you can now only initiate one hunt-type contract per day. Also, if the leader leaves a guild, a new one is assigned based on the following criteria:

  • Rank
  • Contribution
  • Membership time

That’s in order too, so it will likely pick the next highest ranked guild member, and if there isn’t one, it will be the player who has contributed the most.

There’s just one tweak for quests, and that’s for ‘The Terrific Trio of Carmine Forest’. The map indicators were a bit off, so NCSoft has made them more accurate.

Crafting, Fishing, Customisation, and Tutorials

Let’s wrap up the rest of the gameplay changes in one section. Precious and Epic Enchanted Ink is now no longer a thing, and is instead just Enchanted Ink. That means you can use the same material for different crafting rarities. Score!

Fishing received a quick animation change to make it clearer when you’re about to catch an underwater lurker. We like the tweak to player customisation the most though. Players were finding a way to have eyeballs clip through eyelids, which is just terrifying. That’s fixed now.

And, finally, the issue where you got blocked in the scenery by logging out during the morph tutorial has been fixed. Huzzah!

Localisation

This is mostly just tooltip fixes, so don’t get too excited. In fact, let’s just pop the tooltips that Throne and Liberty has fided in bullets:

  • Crossbow: Quick Fire skill specialisation: Damage Increase
  • Staff: Mana Amp (switched the HP and Mana values)
  • Wand: Corrupted Magic Circle: Decaying Touch
  • Precious Skill Growth: Now indicate whether they’re for active or passive skills

UI Fixes

The time between contracts for guilds should now display correctly, so you know how long you have to wait. You should now not see the UI cutting off when viewing your favourite Amitoi.

The Party Board now displays your weapon type and guild information among a number of tweaks and changes. The same goes for the Manage Party display, which was a bit borked overall.

Beat the weekly missions in the Arena and you get a notification, as well as a time until the weekly mission refresh.

Rounding this up, the help button now displays consistently in the top right corner of all UI windows, mod warnings now only appear once each login, and you will get actual, useful information when you disconnect. Oh, and you can check name availability when adding or changing character names.

Controls and PC Changes

You should now have no issues when navigating the Amitoi and Morph menus with the d-pad. Fishing won’t stop when pressing the B button, and charged abilities will no longer fire after you cancel a long button press.

Over in the PC world, NCSoft has temporarily turned off the file attachment functionality as it’s a bit borked at the moment.
