Want to learn everything about the Diablo 4 Reliquaries system? Diablo 4 has just introduced a new season, and with that comes a major change to the battle pass.

At the core of this update is something called Reliquaries. These aren’t just fancy containers in Diablo 4. They entirely flip the way you get seasonal rewards by allowing you to choose what you want and when you want it.

How Reliquaries Work in Diablo 4

How Reliquaries Work in Diablo 4

The old battle pass was pretty simple. You’d progress and unlock rewards in a predetermined path with no actual choices to make. Now things are different. Rewards are now separated into themed reliquaries so you can choose the ones that count to you.

Each reliquary is centered around a particular theme like weapons, beasts, or armor. When the season starts, you select which one to unlock first. After that, you get coins simply by playing the game. Whether you are leveling up, completing quests, or participating in seasonal events, you will be earning coins to spend. Inside each Reliquary, you can pick the order in which you unlock rewards rather than following a strict order.

What Is the “Bilas Returns” Reliquary in Diablo 4?

For example, the “Bilas Returns” Reliquary. This one is free and open to all players, including those on Eternal Realm. That means even if you’re not playing into seasonal content, you can still pick up some of the battle pass rewards. It is a good way to trial the new system without parting with any money.

What Does the Premium Battle Pass Include?

For those who want the whole package, there is still a premium battle pass available for 1,000 Platinum. It allows access to all three premium Reliquaries, the ones focused on weapons, beasts, and armor. You can also acquire each Reliquary alone for 700 Platinum, but buying all three that way is more.

What’s in the Deluxe Battle Pass?

The bundle is obviously the better deal if you’re all in. There is also a Deluxe Battle Pass for 2,800 Platinum. This includes all the premium Reliquaries in Diablo 4 plus some exclusive cosmetics such as wings and pets. These don’t impact gameplay but are nice if you enjoy collecting or showing off your appearance.

How Many Rewards Are in Each Reliquary?

Each reliquary has a certain number of items that can be unlocked using the coins you earn. For example, the Beast Reliquary has 7 cosmetics. Once you unlock all of them, you will get a bonus item like premium armor. It motivates completion but is still 100% up to you how you get there.

Some cosmetics are divided between free and also paid courses. You can get one part of a full armor set, like gloves, on the free track, so you can be tempted to buy the rest through the premium Reliquaries. It’s a nice way to encourage people to spend but it’s still completely voluntary.

What Happened to Ashes and XP Boosts?

Now, about the ashes. They used to be an integral part of battle pass progress but now have been moved to Season Journey. You will earn them in the last chapters of the journey along with pets, titles, and new currency, Resplendent Sparks.

Ashes do still enhance things like reputation gains and dungeon loot, but they no longer give XP boosts for killing mobs. The focus is now more about endgame bonuses rather than overall leveling speed.

Is the New System Worth It?

In general, the new Reliquary system provides Diablo 4 players a lot more versatility. You get to choose what cosmetics to hunt, how to acquire them, and whether you go all in on the premium version or just dip your toes into the free track. Players of Eternal Realm no longer are left out.

Ultimately it is about what matters to you. Diablo fans wanting the game’s cosmetic items and fishing for mounts, pets, and themed gear may find this new format worth it. However, if you are here only for the gameplay and don’t mind about visuals, free Reliquary still provides you with some decent content without demanding anything from you.
