NetEase has released a brand new entry of the Dev Vision, Volume 2, which showcases a bunch of new features and fixes coming to Marvel Rivals at launch. That includes four new maps, themed on Wakanda, Hydra, and more.
Zhiyong, the Lead Combat Designer, heads up the Dev Vision, which also highlights a series of optimisations arriving ahead of the launch. It also includes the measures NetEase will take to tackle cheating.
We’re going to round up all of the changes arriving at launch below, starting
Character Balancing
The Dev Vision kicked off with a look at character balancing, with a few heroes in particular in the spotlight. We also learn that there’s a new system for balancing, which should help new heroes avoid being too strong or weak.
Lastly, NetEase is going to provide full stats for every hero on the official website when it launches, so you know exactly what to expect from each hero.
Moving forward, Marvel Rivals wants to provide you with the full win and pick rates for all heroes, so you have a good idea of where the meta currently lies.

Optimisations
The optimisation section begins with Zhiyong highlighting NetEase’s plans to make the game feel more fluid. That begins with attack animations. These are going to transition from one to another a lot faster.
Hit effects and elemental decals are also more visible at a longer distance, which should make combat appear a lot more flashy. Skill effects will also be a lot easier to spot, so you can make sense of the chaos.
That will also apply to sound effects, too.
You will also receive clear reload prompts and UI elements for all heroes are a lot cleaner, so you get an idea of what skills are ready to use, and which can synergise with each other.

Season 0 and New Maps
Marvel Rivals will launch with Season 0, which includes four new maps. These are available across Quick Match and Competitive Modes. There’s also a new Conquest Map and Practice Range to experience.
There are two maps set in Wakanda, Birnin T’Challa and Hall of Djalia. These include a new form of destruction, called ‘Warth of Orisha’. Destroy special structures, and you will unleash a series of special abilities themed on the Wakandan gods.
Hell’s Heaven is a new Domination map that takes place in Antarctica, and features Hydra. This will see the base transform as you explore and battle in it. Lastly, we’ve got Symbiotic Surface, which is a Conversion map that lets you shoot objects to create Venom-like walls and bridges.
If you’re a fan of the Conquest mode, you might enjoy the new Warped Ninomaru map, which takes place in Tokyo 2099. You can destroy full structures, which get absorbed into the portal hovering over the map.
Map | Theme |
Birnin T’Challa | Wakanda |
Hall of Djalia | Wakanda |
Hell’s Heaven | Hydra |
Symbiotic Surface | Venom |
Warped Ninomaru | Tokyo 2099 |

Anti-Cheat
There wasn’t much to this section that we didn’t already know. Marvel Rivals already features a robust anti-cheat that, according to NetEase, catches cheaters within seven matches.
NetEase plans to keep improving these to catch as many cheaters as possible.
Season 1
Next up, Marvel Rivals will head towards Season 1, which will include brand new heroes.
