In an incredibly sad move, Path of Exile 2 has moved its early access release date to December 6. That’s three weeks later than its original window of November 15.
Fortunately, it’s not due to the developer finding a gamebreaking bug or anything like that. Instead, it’s so Grinding Gear Games can focus on server infrastructure.
When the sequel launches, purchases will be shared between the two games. It’s this system that’s caused a bit of a stumbling block.
Grinding Gear Games wants to make sure it’s perfect, so that you don’t lose your purchases or suffer issues with your account.

Path of Exile 2 Will Host a Livestream in Late November
Moving onto more positive news, Grinding Gear Games will host a massive livestream in four weeks that will tell you everything you need to know about the early access period.
This will include a focus on the endgame content, which is what we all play Path of Exile for anyway. In a post on Steam announcing the delay, the team described the livestream as:
The biggest league announcement we have ever done.
So that’s pretty exciting.
What’s Path of Exile 2?
Path of Exile 2 is the latest entry in the free to play hack and slash series. It plays a lot like early Diablo, but with an emphasis on an absolutely massive skill tree that allows you to customise your character to an unprecedented level.
There are 12 classes to choose from this time, doubling the number of the original. They still make a return though. That’s two each for each stat combination.
Customisation gets much more complex at endgame though, as you can select from one of three different Ascendancy classes per base class. That’s an unprecedented 36 different endgame classes to choose from.
