This makes us feel incredibly old, but Saturday, January 4 was RuneScape‘s 24th birthday. To celebrate, Jagex and the team is holding an anniversary celebration throughout the month.
On the 4th, 13th, 26th, and 31st, the team will drop ‘Anniversary Balloons’ at all lodestones every half hour. Head on over their to grab a series of cosmetic anniversary balloon cosmetics.

There’s More Coming in January
But wait, there’s more! While this isn’t linked to RuneScape’s birthday, we are getting a new series of quests later this month.
Beneath the Scabaras’ Sands arrives on January 13 and sees you work with the Pharaoh of Menaphos to find the God of isolation and wisdom.
To kick off the quest, head to the throne room in Menaphos once you’ve fulfilled the following criteria:
- Complete the ‘Ode of the Devourer’ and ‘Phite Club’ quests
As well as achieve the following level for these skills:

New Contracts and Cosmetics
Wrapping up the January expectations are new contracts and cosmetics arriving throughout January.
This is courtesy of the new ‘Assassin’s Return’ event, kicking off on January 9 and running through to January 13.
It challenges you to complete a series of contracts, earning the Faceless Enforcer Outfit and Smokestep Aura cosmetics.
