RuneScape, truly is the gift that keeps on giving. This week marks the exciting launch of a brand new skilling boss known as the ‘Gate of Elidinis’, which helps you boost your Crafting, Mining, and Agility skills. Beat it and you can earn Divination and Runecrafting offhands, which will make short work of levelling those skills.
The Gate of Elidinis takes place in the Sanctum of Rebirth and picks up where the Ode of the Devourer quest left off. Don’t worry, we aren’t going to spoil anything, though we do recommend you complete the quest before tackling the new boss.
How Do I Defeat Gate of Elidinis in RuneScape?
Doing so will prove quite challenging thanks to some nifty new boss mechanics. This includes a ‘corruption’ mechanic, which wipes you and your entire party if you’re not careful. To avoid this, keep an eye on the boss’s health bar, which slowly fills red as the corruption grows.

You can reduce it by using your Divination skill to cleanse nearby Statue Shards, then mining them for Statue Pieces. Finally, you can put these back together to reduce corruption. It’s also worth keeping an eye on the Moonstone Conduits that litter the battlefield. These protect you from the boss’s attacks but you’ll have to use your Crafting skill to repair them.
Another fun mechanic sees you summoning Icthlarin to raise pillars that you can jump across if your Agility is high enough. This lets you get close enough to deal enormous damage and reduce corruption. The rest of the boss battle is pretty standard fare: whack the boss a few times, take down ads (servants of Amascut) that periodically respawn, and earn rewards.
What Are These New RS3 Rewards You Mentioned?
These include the ‘Runic Attuner’, which boosts your Runecrafting experience at a random altar. By using that altar numerous times you earn bonus effects, too, including higher Rune production, the ability to teleport to the altar, and massively boosted XP.

Meanwhile, The ‘Memory Dowser’ is the Divination skill’s best friend. This nifty offhand allows you to interact with wisps seven tiles away, automatically deposit into an energy rift two tiles away, gain a chance to gather double memories, and extends the duration of the spring.
A new God Book, the ‘Scripture of Elidinis, provides you with the means to earn XP from any skill your training. That’s bound to come in very handy. It provides a passive effect that spawns a wandering soul, which you can ‘dismiss’ in exchange for XP. The exact method of telling a soul to sod off changes depending on which one pops up, but it generally involves chasing, avoiding, or interacting with it.
Wrapping up the rewards is a new Combat Prayer, ‘Eclipsed Soul’. This temporarily boosts your critical strike chance and heals you for doing so. You need skill level 75 in Strength, Attack, Magic, Ranged, Necromancy, and Prayer to use it. You can also unlock a new boss pet, Edie, who looks just like the Gate of Elidinis. Defeat the boss 1,000 times and you can unlock the cleansed version. Corruption, be damned!

What About the Limited Time Rewards?
To celebrate the launch of the new skill, the powers that be over at Jagex have introduced a ‘Gate of Elidinis Hunt’ timed event. To participate, you need to chat to the Priestess of Elidinis, who’s chilling outside of the Sanctum of Rebirth by the Grand Exchange between now and October 6.
She will provide you with tasks that you can complete to earn ‘Moonstone Shards’, which you can trade in for cosmetic items and buffs. In terms of the former, you can earn the ‘Divine Moon Guard’, which overrides your Death Guard, and a new Lantern cosmetic. Once the event ends, the rewards will still be available as very rare drops from the Gate of Elidinis, so don’t despair if you don’t have time to participate.
In terms of buffs, you can unlock ‘Infinite Porters’, ‘Skilling Cauldrons’, and 10% increased rare drop chance for the Gate of Elidinis encounter in particular.
