Jagex has confirmed that RuneScape‘s Woodcutting and Fletching update is now live, allowing you to achieve a level cap of 110 for both skills.

The update also includes a new area to chop trees in, which features all-new mechanics to dig into. You can then turn those logs into new ranged weapons to help boost your fletching skill.

There are a ton of adjustments included with this update, so let’s launch straight into it.

Woodcutting and Fletching Changes: At a Glance

If you’re not interested in getting stuck in the weeds of the update, let’s take a quick glance at everything that’s new.

  • Woodcutting and fletching now have level caps of 110
  • There’s a new grove in Eagle’s Peak that provides you with level 100 trees to chop down
  • There are two new mechanics to learn: tree timers and lumberjack’s intuition
  • You can collect enchanted bird nests to boost your woodcutting performance
  • Craft the level 100 masterwork bow to increase your fletching skill
  • There are new hatchets to help you chop down trees faster

Everything You Need to Know About 110 Woodcutting

First up, you need to level up to 100 to access the new content, so go chop down some high level trees.

Now, you can head on over to Eagle’s Peak to chop down the brand new eternal magic trees. These are non-competitive, and you need to pay attention to two new mechanics while whacking them with a hatchet.

Tree Timer

The first is the tree timer mechanic, which basically provides you with a fixed duration before you start chopping and the tree goes down.

Stop chopping and the tree timer regenerates, so, in that sense, it’s like a health bar.

Lumberjack’s Intuition

Lumberjack’s intuition, meanwhile, is a brand new buff that rewards you with a temporary buff while chopping down trees:

  • Higher XP for gaining logs
  • Higher chance to gain bird’s nests and their enchanted variants
  • A higher chance to perform a perfect cut

To activate the buff, you need to watch out for an animation that looks like leaves falling. Chop the tree at the same spot the animation appears to activate the buff.

What Are Perfect Cuts?

Perfect cuts are basically a ‘critical hit’ on the tree, providing you with a log and extra XP when you pull one off. You have a base chance to perform one, which increases alongside your woodcutting skill.

New Woodcutting Consumables

There are a bunch of new consumables you can use to help you:

  • Bird Whistle: grants you a higher chance of finding your desired bird’s nest (selectable)
  • Sharpening Stone: grants a higher chance to perform a perfect cut
  • Imbued Bird Feed: Higher chance of finding an enchanted bird’s nest
  • Lumberjack’s Courage: Gain 20% more XP when you gain a log

Each items last 20 minutes and you can stack them for up to an hour.

What’s the Deal With Enchanted Bird’s NEsts?

This is a brand new piece of loot that you have a chance to drop when chopping down trees. You can ‘consume’ them to gain a chance to grant you the following rewards:

  • Rare seeds
  • Wood spirits
  • Consumables
  • Clue scrolls
  • Salvage
  • Gems
  • Necklaces

Everything You Need to Know About 110 Fletching

Just like woodcutting, you need to hit level 100 fletching to access the new content. This allows you to craft the following new items:

  • Eternal Magic Shortbows
  • Primal Arrows
  • Primal Crossbows
  • Primal Bolts

To craft these items, you can access new Fletching workbenches at the following locations:

  • Burthorpe
  • Varrock’s Ranged Shop
  • The Ranging Guild
  • Catherby’s Ranged Shop
  • The City of Um
  • Prifddinas
  • Fort

Here, you can craft the new Eternal Magic weapons and upgrade them. You can also submit them to the local armies.

Upgrading the new items is a lot easier than before, too. You now just need additional logs, rather than bowstrings or crossbow limbs.
