Update: Base has announced that Royal Quest Online has finally been approved by Steam, allowing the game to launch on that platform.

The team has set a new date of December 19 and it will launch alongside four new servers:

  • Pyros: Europe
  • Aztec: America
  • Ortos: America
  • Astus: Asia

Check out our original post below to learn what to expect from the official launch.

The original story follows.

Original Post: While we were all gearing up for the Royal Quest Online release date tomorrow, that has been put in jeopardy by Steam. At the eleventh hour, the biggest PC gaming web store has requested more data about the in-game payments system.

Until developer and publisher Base provides this information, Steam has blocked the game from launching. While we do back Steam doing due diligence with the games it launches on the platform, we can’t help but empathise with Base, who provided Steam with everything it needed two weeks ago in an attempt to launch smoothly.

Royal Quest Online Could Still Launch This Week

Base isn’t giving up on releasing Royal Quest Online this week. The ball is in Steam’s court though, as Base responded to the request almost immediately when it came through on Saturday.

So, the best case scenario now is that Steam provides the okay and Base releases tomorrow as planned. If there is any delay, Base will push this back, though the team has stressed that they will launch as soon as the approval comes through.

Royal Quest Online Hits the Max Tier of its Wishlist Giveaway

In more positive news, Royal Quest Online has achieved 25,000 Wishlists. That means the top tier of rewards, the ‘Priest of Technology’ costume, will now be available for free to all players who login a week before release.

This is delightful news. We reported back on October 9 that Base had reduced the threshold from 28,000 Steam wishlists to help us get the reward. Now, less than two weeks later, you’ve only gone and done just that.

What Are the Other Wishlist Rewards?

Now, provided you’re quick to play the game when it launches, you will earn the costume as well as the previous reward tiers, the Demon Agaliar pet and a High Voltage decoration.

So go ahead and wishlist Royal Quest Online on Steam to grab it the minute it launches. Here’s hoping that will still happen tomorrow, as planned.
