Update: Following its launch on PC back on October 28, ESO is now available on Xbox and PlayStation. Check out our original post to learn more about what’s coming.

At a glance, expect new Companions, Scribing changes, and a massive overhaul of the Battlegrounds feature. We’ve also included an image below that shows all of the changes in one handy graphic.

Original Post: The long-awaited ESO Update 44 is finally available on PC and Mac, ahead of its wider console release in November. It introduces a host of new features, including Battlegrounds adjustments, new Companions, Skill Styles, Item Sets, Home Furnishings, Achievements, and more.

Those changes to the Battlefield mode are chief among the new features though. Instead of 4v4v4 modes, ESO is introducing 4v4 and 8v8 matches, along with seven new maps, and a host of new rewards and mechanics.

In terms of new Companions, we’ve got High Elf Dragonknight Tanlorin and Zerith-var, the Necromancer. You can learn more about them by completing their new quest lines and grab them from the Crown Store right now.

Scribing System Updates

ESO is introducing a new Banner Bearer Scribing System, which lets you carry a banner on your back. This provides you with a buff for your entire group, which changes depending on the Focus you choose.

There are also a series of new Skill Styles, which change up the visuals on a variety of different skills. This includes a fiery Puncture and Force Shock. Simply visit the Chronicler Firandil to learn more.

Golden Pursuits

We covered the exciting new Golden Pursuits system in a separate article. In short, this new series of achievements rewards you for participating in different features of ESO.

It encourages you to get out of your comfort zone and participate in areas of the game you’ve previously ignored.

ESO Update 44 Patch Notes

Rounding up the new additions are a series of additional features that we’re going to round up here. These include:

  • Increasing the number of furnishing base materials from harvest nodes
  • HDR support for PC, including new visual settings
  • Quest pips for Master Writs
  • 10% Alliance Points, Skill Line Ranks, and Alliance Rank for ESO Plus Members
  • 10% boost to Tel Var Stones from killing monsters for ESO Plus Members
  • New characters will now participate in Soul Shriven in Coldharbour, the old tutorial, rather than Gates of Adamant
