The latest The Finals patch notes are in, with update 4.9.0 providing a double XP event, new cosmetics, and weapon balancing.
We’ve included the teaser video for the new Smashquaker Set, which you can purchase now in the store. It features roller blades for those who want to get around a little faster. There are two further cosmetic sets if you’re into that sort of thing.
Rounding out the update are extensive changes to the Model 1887 weapon and a whole host of bug fixes. Let’s take a look at the lot.
Bonus XP Event
The most exciting addition to this update is the bonus XP event, which provides you with twice the rewards for completing Daily Contracts until the end of Season 4.
You can also get 150% extra XP and Fans during matches, so make the most of it while it lasts.
New Cosmetic Sets: Smashquaker, Savage Spots, and Swift Stripes
There are three new cosmetic sets in this update: Smashquaker, Savage Spots, and Swift Stripes.
Smashquaker is first up in the video, showcasing a rollerblader-style outfit. It’s not our favourite, if we’re perfectly honest.
Next up are the Savage Spots and Swift Stripes sets, which are equally as bizarre. They look more like pyjamas than an outfit you’d want to wear in a free to play shooter.
Hidden in the middle of it is a new Eclipse Shade, which provides a darker theme.
Weapon Balancing
It’s just the Model 1887 getting balancing tweaks this time around. It’s an ever so slight nerf to overall damage, but shouldn’t impact you too much:
- Shoots 9 pellets, up from 8
- Each pellet deals 13 damage, down from 16
- Pellet dispersion pattern is reduced in the outer radius
Bug Fixes
Now, let’s take a look at the remainder of the changes taken directly from the source.
Customization
- Fixed an issue that would cause the ‘Dye Job’ skin on the SR-84 to look different between the menus and in-game
- Fixed interaction between ‘Gaucho Bolero’s’ Black&White effect and ‘The Synthsprawler’ Hairstyle
- Fixed missing pink streak in ‘Darque Mood’ Hairstyle
Game Modes
Ranked Tournaments
- Fixed an issue where a team’s score would not immediately update in the ‘Squad Wipe’ announcement on the HUD
Performance
- Made various optimizations to the in-game HUD that should improve client performance for some players
WeaponsThe Finals
- Fixed an issue where the Recurve Bow and Throwing Knives could stop sending updates to the server, causing them to look like they were firing when they actually were not
