Fortnitemares 2024 is finally here, bringing you spooky shenanigans to play through right through to Chapter 5, season 4. This year, it draws its themes from the not very child friendly Saw movie franchise, along with Disney and Tim Burton IPs.

There’s plenty of returning fun though, including unvaulted items, Fortnite XP quests, and Horde Rush. You can also expect a ton of skin to gather together, giving your character a scary new flavour.

Jigsaw Invades Fortnitemares

Let’s start with the Saw crossover. This introduces a brand new throwable item, Boom Billy, who locks onto the nearest opponent and cycles towards them. Terrifying stuff. When, or if, he arrives, he explodes on impact, so you better get running.

The real Billy the Puppet also makes an appearance at Freaky Fields. While you can find Boom Billy from chests or just lying on the ground, you can guarantee a drop of you defeat his real counterpart.

In an extra terrifying touch, Billy will appear on TVs dotted around the island. He will challenge you to battle another player or team, and, if you accept, you have a short window of time to defeat them before both teams are eliminated.

That’s thinks to Billy’s unique sense of humour, as he dons you with an explosive bear mask. Defeat the opposing player or team and you get a Boom Billy, Witch Broom, and more loot.

Chainsaw and Unvaulted Rewards

There’s a brand new Chainsaw weapon. You can slice enemies into pieces with this, or use it as a ground vehicle, allowing you to traverse much faster.

In terms of returning items, the Wood Stake Shotgun, Pumpkin Launcher, and Witch Broom all make a return. You can get the first two by defeating Ultima Carver at Brawler’s Patch, or the Witch Broom from the ground or chests.

Shuri’s Black Panther Claws have, sadly, been popped into the vault for now.

Fortnite Horde Rush is Back

That’s right – Horde Rush is back this Halloween as a limited-time mode. It once again challenges you to put together your own team to try and survive against a horde of… Cube Monsters.

Defeat them and you increase your score, pulling off combos and collecting score multipliers to boost if further. Survive till the end and you can battle the final boss, a terrifying stone monster with a mouth in its chest.

The new mode includes a new set of quests that you can complete for XP.

Fortnitemares Skins

As you can expect, there are a ton of Fortnitemares skins you can bag from the shop. These include Disney, Tim Burton, and horror film outfits to help you scare your friends.

This also confirms last week’s rumour that three Disney villains would arrive during this update. We may also finally get an answer to whether or not all Disney skins will be able to hold guns.

Fortnite esports Tournament: Symbiote Cup

Fortnitemares is introducing a brand new esports tournament, the Symbiote Cup. It challenges you to play ten matches in a three hour window, earning points depending on where you place. the team with the most points at the end wins for their region.

Win and your entire team unlocks She-Venom and Agony early and for free. It takes place on October 22.

LEGO Fortnite Battle Pass and More

We covered this last week, but LEGO Fortnite is also getting in in the fun with its Brick or Treat battle pass. This followed on from the mysterious news that Ball-R wheels were mysteriously vanishing from players accounts.

We’re also expecting a new LEGO Fortnite island, following on from the introduction of Chasers vs Hunters last week.
