Jagex released a series of OSRS updates today, which provide a series of tweaks and fixes for a number of in-game systems. These include the new Halloween 2024 event, Varlamore, Ironman, and Arclight.
This is on top of a very busy period of updates for Old School RuneScape, including the previous Wintertodt and Varlamore tweaks, and Guardians of the Rift beta changes. This is on top of a quick fix to Mixology, which arrived with Varlamore.
Now, let’s take a look at everything that’s arrived in today’s OSRS update.

OSRS Halloween 2024 Updates
Old School RuneScape’s Halloween event is utterly adorable. For those unaware, you have to help local farmer Marika with a pumpkin issue. We won’t spoil it for you.
If you were finding this quest frustrating, there’s now a new option to ‘promise’ that you’ve heard the cat. Marika might actually believe you now.
That annoying pumpkin decoration in Draynor has also been moved. Now, you don’t have to go all of the way around the Bank to get to the oak tree. Result!

Varlamore: The Rising Darkness Changes
A month on from its release, Varlamore is in pretty good shape. Jagex has released a couple of changes to smooth up Mixology and Hueycoatl:
- You can now correctly use the Mixology minigame while wearing Ferocious Gloves. We will miss the hilarious bug that caused your hands to stretch.
- It’s now clearer how to get the Perfect Hueycoatl achievement. You have to kill the boss five times without tacking damage from any of its attacks. Good luck!
We’ve put together a Hueycoatl guide that could should be able to help you beat the boss with more ease.

OSRS Ironman Adjustments
This update will please a ton of you who opted to lock your Ironman status permanently. Now, you can downgrade back to regular status, allowing you to play the game without all of the Ironman limitations.
The change was made easier thanks to Jagex’s improved security. The team resisted making this change for years, as there was concern that someone could hijack your account and remove the status as a troll.
However, if you’re still concerned about that, you can choose a cooldown delay of 90 days. This means you will receive a warning if someone has hijacked your account and tried to downgrade you.
Simply visit the Ironman Tutor in Lumbridge to cancel this before the timer runs out.

Arclight Tweaks
Running out of charges will now turn your Arclight inactive, rather than downgrading it to Darklight. This means that you will maintain your Infusion progress, but still cause the Arclight to be unusable in combat.
That’s a fantastic compromise versus the old system, which wiped your lengthy process to transform it into Emberlight.
Additionally, you can now use multiple at once to charge your Arclight. It costs 333 for one shard, 666 for two, and 1,000 for three. You will also receive a warning when your Arclight has dropped to 100 charges.

OSRS Run Energy Updates
Jagex is hosting its second beta for Run Energy changes tomorrow, Thursday 24. We’ll learn more about that on the day, as well as how to participate.
